Walks

Whether it is a day walk or a longer trip, our Walks all share the principles of getting active outside, connecting with others, being mindful and great food. All the food we serve is homemade, mostly plant based and completely free from refined sugar. Good for our bodies and good for the planet!

Our walks are all about getting active outside, connecting with others, as well as ourselves and then slowing down as we refuel with the best homemade food - healthy and delicious!

Our walks are an opportunity to be guided and looked after by an experienced and qualified Mountain Leader with extensive local knowledge.  They are graded ❤️, ❤️❤️ or ❤️❤️❤️ depending on length or walk, terrain and height gain.

FAQs

Do I need to be fit to sign up?

The walks are graded , or depending on both length and exertion. So keep an eye on the grading when you are choosing a walk - get in touch if you are not sure.

Can I come along on my own?

Yes of course. You will definitely not be alone for long!

Do I need to bring gear/equipment?

You should have a good pair of walking shoes or boots and a small rucksack with a extra layer and hat and gloves as well as waterproofs.

How do I book?

Message us via email, Instagram or Facebook to reserve a place and we will send you the details.

What about cancellation?

If we have to cancel for any reason (most likely weather) we offer a full refund or a transfer to another date. If you have to cancel, as we realise the world is not always straightforward, we will work with you to transfer to another suitable date.

Walks We Do

Belfast Walks - Our Belfast Walks are half day walks

These Walks include a two course lunch; our menu changes regularly and we like to serve food which is in season.

Belfast Walk - Cavehill from Belfast Castle (graded ❤️)

A great way to get views across all of Belfast,  Strangford, the Mournes and often to Scotland and the Isle of Man. Anyone who hasn't been to the top of Cavehill needs to fix that - the views are stunning.

A 7 km circular walk with approx 300m of height gain on good paths.

Belfast Walk - Belvoir Forest, Minnowburn Beeches and The Giant's Ring Loop (graded ❤️)

We start this walk in Belvoir Forest and connect to the beautiful forest paths around Minnowburn Beeches and the Lagan, going on to the Giant's Ring and back through the Terraced Garden and Belvoir in time for lunch.

A walk of about 10 km with a height gain of 150m on good forest paths.

Beyond Belfast Walks - Our Belfast Walks are half day walks but our range of Beyond Belfast Walks are longer walks and therefore require more of the day than the Belfast Walks

As well as being looked after by a fully qualified and experienced Mountain Leader for the day, these walks include a two course lunch.

Helen's Bay to Helen's Tower Loop (graded ❤️❤️)

Starting at the County Down coast we quickly make our way inland through country tracks and forest trails to Helen's Tower; a proper walk through our beautiful countryside.

19 km with only gentle height gain.

Loppin' the Loanins (graded ❤️) and Slieve Croob (graded ❤️) (but graded ❤️❤️ if done on the same day)

From the car park on The Lighthouse Road between Dromara and Castlewellan, Co Down, we take in the spectacular views across the countryside to the Mournes as we wind our way through some some long forgotten lanes or 'loanins'. This route can be a little muddy under foot, so walking boots, or welly boots are recommended.

After lunch, we head to Slieve Croob for anyone who still has energy!

Loanins: 8 km and and 135m of height gain
Slieve Croob: 5 km and 200m of height gain

Slieve Commedagh (graded ❤️❤️❤️)

NI's second highest peak; arguably more beautiful than Slieve Donard and definitely quieter!

A stunning airy walk.

8km and 750m of height gain.

Doan in the Mournes (graded ❤️❤️)

A special little mountain in the middle of the Mournes with stunning views of many of the Mournes inside the Mourne wall. Doan also has views Silent Valley and Ben Crom Reservoirs.

Slemish and Glenarm Forest (graded ❤️❤️)

A little volcanic plug on the western edge of the Antrim Hills, Slemish has links with St Patrick who was a shepherd  on this magical little mountain.

The walk in a short, sharp one, rewarding us with wonderful views from the top and the picnic table we use after our walk to re-fuel, has views which are pretty good too!

Slemish is a short but steep 3km walk with a height gain of 150m. After lunch we will head to Glenarm for a 10km walk through the village and forest.

Mourne Mountains: Blue Lough and Slieve Binnian (graded ❤️❤️❤️)

Starting from Carrick Little we will head up the Annalong Valley towards Blue Lough - anyone for a swim??  and then on to Slieve Binnian - one of the 77s.

A 12 km circular walk with approx 600m of height gain.

Woodburn Forest and Knockagh Monument with Lunch  (graded ❤️)

Woodburn is a little known forest above Carrickfergus with three beautiful reservoirs hidden amongst the trees and paths. We will start in the forest but leave it briefly to walk to Knockagh Monument for views across Belfast and the Lough. After lunch we will head to the even quieter more northerly part of the forest.

A North Coast 'Camino' Day - Dunseverick to Runkerry  (graded ❤️❤️)

Beaches, coastal paths, good company and great food.

This walk will include Dunseverick Castle, Portmoon, Pont de Spanagh, the Giant's Causeway and Runkerry.

Camino days are usually between 15 and 20 km.

A North Coast 'Camino' Day - Portstewart and the Barmouth  (graded ❤️❤️)

A stunning walk with different views round each corner - very similar in feel to the coastal part of the Spanish Camino to The Ends of the World.

Today's walk will include The Barmouth, Portstewart Strand, the Convent cliff walk and the coastal path past the Herring Pond with fantastic views over Mussenden Temple and Donegal.

Camino days are usually between 15 and 20 km.

Walks Beyond Northern Ireland

West Highland Way  (graded ❤️❤️❤️)

A long distance path starting in Glasgow and finishing in Fort William in the shadow of Ben Nevis.

This is a 7 day walking trip with hotel accommodation each night. We start just north of Glasgow and make our way along the west side of Loch Lomond and through the Highlands, finishing in the Glen Nevis valley.

A possible add-on is to climb Ben Nevis before leaving this fabulous area.

Camino Trip (graded ❤️❤️❤️)

Camino de Santiago, Spain

We start in Santiago and spend 5 days walking to the "Ends of the Earth" in Finisterre.  If you have watched 'The Way' you will have seen Finisterre.

What an amazing trip 2022 was - let's hope 2023 is as good❤️
